Work started for largest garden centre of Iceland
This year we will build a 7,250 m2 garden centre in Reykjavík. The international architectural firm PK Arkitektar has designed this mega project. The large shop windows, the green roof, the vertical wooden blinds and the architectural facade with continuous canopies give the garden centre the biophilic look that suits the company.

After our recent collaboration with Ebtech Glasshouse Systems Ltd., we now also joined forces with Hortère Conseil in France. This collaboration ensures a better, continuous, faster realisation of our services to the French market, whilst still providing the Smiemans technology, experience, and expertise.
Opening Plantorama Tilst & Horsholm
In one weekend, the successful Plantorama chain has opened two new garden centres which will bring them to a total of 13 locations. On March 26, Denmark's largest garden centre was opened in Tilst and the day after the establishment in Hørsholm. We are proud that we have been able to realize these sustainable projects.
Completion in sight nominated glasshouse at botanical garden Flora
We are working hard at the special 3,000m2 project in the famous botanical garden in Cologne. Most of the glass has been placed in the ultra-modern glass roof of this progressive project. So special that it has a chance to win the price for the BTTV 2021 of Zinkinfo Benelux.
Round Table Event 2021
On February 23rd, Smiemans Projecten, together with Garden Connect & Tuinbranche Nederland, organised the follow-up to the Round Table Event of the previous year. This time as a webinar. No less than 19 entrepreneurs from 7 different countries, all with their own experiences and cultures, were online.
Highest point of glass palace at ‘Flora’ in Cologne
On 27 August, the first large steel arch of the new tropical glasshouse for Flora und Botanischer Garten Köln was erected and secured. The highest point of this special glass construction for this well-known botanical garden in the city of Cologne is reached at an early stage.
Climate-proof office of VB receives GPR Certificate
Monday July 20 was the first working day for the employees of VB at their new energy neutral workplace. On that day, the GPR certificate was also awarded after an extensive assessment by consultancy bureau M3E. With extremely high scores (between 7.9 and 8.8), the sustainability of this property is one of the best in the Netherlands.

New exhibition glasshouse for Landesgartenschau 2020
For the Landesgartenschau 2020 in Überlingen (DE) EdenParks, part of Smiemans Projecten, will build the new exhibition glasshouse for the special collection of cacti. The highlight curved glasshouse construction will be realized on a turnkey basis.

We received very good news just before we are going to celebrate X-mas: we are going to build the glass construction of The World Horti Center!
This will be the international platform for horticulture, a meeting point and knowledge center where business, education and research come together.
Project EdenParks nominated for 'The Roof of the year'
Jardin d'Hiverre at "Bomencentrum Nederland" has been nominated for the award: Roof of the Year. The independent jury noticed the special shape of the roof and the combination of the materials that have been used in this progressive project. This is a wonderful recognition for everyone of EdenParks, part of Smiemans Projecten.
Plant Propagation and greenhouse facilities for Botanical garden Inverewe (SCO)
Once again Smiemans Projecten has been given the assignment to build for a botanical garden. This time, the "National Trust for Scotland" asked us to build a propagation facility for Inverewe. Inverewe is one of the most famous gardens in Europe and one of the most visited in Scotland. "The National Trust for Scotland" is a non-profit organization that protects and promotes the natural and cultural heritage of Scotland.
'Most distinctive in the industry' at SME Entrepreneur Award 2017
Last Thursday was the 11th edition of the SME Entrepreneur awards. Smiemans Projecten won the prize 'Most distinctive in the industry'.
Jeroen Smiemans: "It was a great experience and a recognition for the whole team." During a well-attended meeting of MKB Westland, the chairman of the jury of the MKB Entrepreneur Award, Lars Boellaard, announced the winners.
Botanical glasshouse Smiemans in development plan Fleetwood, UK
Smiemans Projecten is involved in a major redevelopment project for an old port in Fleetwood, west of England. Wyre dock development LTD is an investment company that has been asked by ABP, the owner of the port, to write a redevelopment plan. The goal is to transform this historic waterfront site still utilised by Fleetwood fish trading firms into a vibrant area where people can live, work, shop and recreate. This will benefit the town of Fleetwood.
Metamorphose for garden centre Squire’s
At Squire’s Garden Centre, the HighLight arc greenhouse provides extra sales space and the venlo roof ensures that customers can buy the outdoor plants even in bad weather. In addition, there is a new spacious entrance and most doors have been replaced. This gives the garden centre a total metamorphosis.

This year, Trend organisation EFSA will organise the EFSA Green Retail Days 2020. During these days it is possible to attend a Green Retail Tour and visit several garden centres and suppliers.
