Sustainability, functionality and education
Smiemans Projecten started to build a unique and innovative atrium at Campus Science & Green for PTI Kortrijk. The project, designed by Van Bergen Kolpa Architects, is focused on science and green and combines sustainability, functionality and education.
Innovative and future-oriented
With a total surface area of 2,290 m², the greenhouse offers space for innovative techniques such as vertical farming and aquaculture, and is prepared for future-oriented applications such as AI and robotics.
Education and research in glass structures
Previous projects as proof
Universities and schools are increasingly opting for glass structures from Smiemans Projecten to support their green education programmes. Back in 2002, we built the Clore Learning Zone for RHS Garden Wisley, a combination of greenhouse, technical rooms and classrooms where education and practice come together. This was followed by, among others, the Campus Riedberg for the Goethe University in Frankfurt and the World Horti Centre, where educational institutions, the business community and research meet on a daily basis.

Perfect balance between light, space and climate control
A glass structure offers the perfect balance between light, space and climate control, allowing students and researchers to work in a realistic and sustainable environment. Practical education, research and innovative cultivation methods are given an optimal place here.
Sustainability, innovation and education
The new greenhouse complex for Campus Kortrijk (PTI school) also fits seamlessly into this line: an inspiring learning environment where sustainability, innovation and education are central.
