Glass buildings for hospitality and leisure
Create a distinctive destination where guests feel comfortable and stay longer. Glass structures combine natural light, an outdoor atmosphere and year-round protection for restaurants, hotels and leisure venues. They strengthen the visitor experience while giving you more opportunities to use your venue in every season.
More usable space
A glass extension, rooftop venue or covered terrace turns underused space into a valuable part of your business. It can provide extra seating, accommodate events and increase capacity without losing the connection with the outdoors. This gives you more flexibility and additional opportunities to generate revenue.
A great example is the restaurant on the roof of a historic industrial building, which is open year-round and offers a panoramic view.
Comfortable throughout the year
Visitor comfort determines whether guests stay, return and recommend your venue. We consider sunlight, temperature, ventilation, shading and acoustics from the outset. The result is a comfortable glass environment that works during warm summers, colder months and changing weather conditions, without losing its open character.
Like the garden center we built in 2003 that was transformed into an inspiring retail environment for the well-known chain Avoca in Ireland, located in Dublin, in 2017.
Built around your operation
Every hospitality or leisure venue has different requirements for routing, capacity, atmosphere and daily use. By aligning the glass structure with your operation, we help create an efficient building that supports staff, welcomes visitors and remains flexible enough to respond to changing commercial needs. We can accomplish all of this while maintaining business as usual, like we did the expansion for the restaurant and sales area of garden centre Longacres.
From concept to realisation
Smiemans Projecten works alongside clients, architects and consultants to make ambitious glass buildings technically feasible. We contribute specialist knowledge of glass, aluminium, climate and construction from an early stage through to realisation, protecting the architectural vision while creating lasting commercial and functional value.

Proven Expertise with Our Projects
Over the last 50+ years, we have built many special projects, such as at leisure centre Trago Mills. Smiemans Projecten realised a 4,194 m² garden and retail centre combining shopping, dining and visitor attractions. The HighLight glass structure and tall Wide Span entrance create a recognisable, welcoming destination. Its integrated climate-control system helps maintain comfortable conditions within this multifunctional visitor environment.
