Turnkey garden centre project in Prague
Smiemans Projecten realised a turnkey wide-span glass construction for Chládek Zahradnické Centre in Prague. The project added almost 2,000 m² of covered retail space, including an atmospheric restaurant, and helped transform the location into a modern garden centre with a strong customer experience.
Chládek is a family-owned company with deep horticultural roots. Founded in 1992, the company continued a family tradition of more than one hundred years in horticulture. Over time, the business developed into a fully equipped garden centre in the centre of Prague, with a wide assortment of plants, garden products and lifestyle items.
Wide-span glass construction for modern retail
For a garden centre, the building has to do more than protect products from the weather. It must support sales, create a pleasant route for visitors and offer flexibility for changing seasons and product groups. The wide-span glass construction creates an open, bright and inviting retail environment. Generous daylight supports the presentation of plants and gives customers a natural shopping experience.
Bright retail space with long-term flexibility
As a turnkey project, Smiemans was responsible for the design and realisation of the glass construction. This integrated approach gives the client one experienced partner for the complete process, from technical design to execution. It reduces coordination risks, improves planning and ensures that the building is developed with retail use, climate performance and long-term operation in mind.
A garden centre with hospitality value
The restaurant is an important part of the concept. It increases dwell time, gives visitors another reason to return and turns the garden centre into more than a place for quick purchases. This is especially valuable for modern garden centres that want to combine retail, hospitality and experience under one roof.
