Designed around the customer experience

The building plays an important role in how visitors experience a garden centre. Natural light, space and atmosphere all contribute to an inviting environment.

At Ballyseedy, the HighLight glass structure brings retail and hospitality together in a bright, spacious setting. Its distinctive form gives the garden centre a recognisable identity, while creating a welcoming place for customers to shop, browse and spend time.

More than a building

A retail environment needs to work well for both business and customers. The building must support daily ops while offering an experience that encourages people to visit and stay. At Ballyseedy, glass, steel and insulated panels create a distinct architectural character, with natural light and a sense of openness central to the visitor experience.
The HighLight construction provides the structural basis for this environment, bringing together the requirements of retail and restaurant facilities within one coherent building. For Smiemans, this is the value of specialist glass construction: creating a building that does more than provide floor space. It contributes to the business identity and the customer experience.

Built for the long-term

A distinctive glass building is a long-term investment. Its value lies in its original design and its continued service to people and businesses. A considered approach is required: a well-engineered structure, materials suited to the building's purpose and an understanding of how the space will be used over time. Specialist knowledge can help owners assess their building's condition, plan maintenance and consider renovation.
After 20 years, Smiemans has returned to the building to carry out major maintenance work. For us, building for the long term means using our expertise to create distinctive glass structures and our knowledge to help owners care for them.
